Andrew “Andy” Eugene Murphy, 84, of Dallas was called to his home with the Lord on Saturday, 30 June 2018.
He was born September 17, 1933 in Gaston County to the late Lawrence and Bertha Robinson Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Cloninger.
Survivors include his daughters; Ann Massey (William), Julie Bodenheimer (James), and Amy Eberle (Wayne).
Grandchildren; Susan Sanders, Grayson Bodenheimer (Hannah), Jameson Bodenheimer, and William (Will) Massey.
Great-grandchildren; Andi and Annabelle Sanders.
Siblings; Born one of 10 children he leaves behind siblings Ted Murphy (Peggy), Harry Murphy (Wanda), Judy Outlaw (Bernard), Luther Murphy (Rhonda) and sister in law Dorcus Murphy. Siblings that have gone before him include James Murphy, Tommy Murphy, Mary Griffie, Lawrence Murphy, and Wayne Murphy.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stanley and owner of M&M Auto Parts. A long time member, former Master, and chaplain of the Stanley Masonic Lodge, Lifetime member and past President of the Gaston County Shrine Club and Member of The Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte.
Proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Korea from 1956-1958.
Always community minded he was on The Board of Directors for the Spencer Mountain Fire Department. He was a Stanley Jaycees member and former Man of the Year. Constant supporter of education he served on numerous PTA and Booster Clubs in Gaston County.
Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, with Reverend Dan King officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall at 12:00.
A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mt Holly with Masonic Rites performed by Stanley Masonic Lodge #713 A.F. & A.M.
