Ann Irene (Dixon) Franklin Smith

Ann Irene Dixon Franklin Smith, 84, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late James and Nellie Mack Dixon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis John Franklin and Charles Kermit Smith; her son, Roger Dale Franklin, Sr.; a granddaughter, Marla Franklin Soles; and four siblings. She was a member of Revival Tabernacle, Cherryville and was an avid country music fan.

She is survived by her children, Glenys Franklin Barnes (Timothy Scott Barnes) and Rev. Dr. Tony Lee Franklin (Angela Robertson Franklin); grandchildren, Kevin Franklin (Jaime), Dale Franklin, Jr., and Hampton Franklin (Britney); five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and five siblings.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly with Rev. Dr. Tony Lee Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
