Arthur Jonah Sneed, Sr.

Arthur Jonah Sneed, Sr. was born on August 8th, 1953 to the late Roy and Joan Sneed in Hammond, Indiana.  He departed this temporary life for his eternal home in Heaven on Friday, April 20th serenaded in song, surrounded by his loving family and friends.  Art was truly blessed.  He received the ultimate healing and is now free of sickness and pain!  Art was a dedicated member of Message of Love Church in Belmont, where he was an ordained minister, and held the positions of Church Clerk, Sunday school teacher, and assisted with the church's food bank ministry.  He was employed with Freightliner of Mt. Holly for over 30 years.  Art served as the Fire Chief with the Lucia Riverbend Fire Department.  He loved being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, crafting in his wood shop, and spending endless weeks at their cabin home in Brown Mountain.  Art was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.  He will be missed so much by all that loved and knew him, but they take comfort in knowing they will see him again.  Art is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Joan Sneed; former wife, Brenda Sneed; sister, Kathy Burger; and grandson Isaiah Tran.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 24 years, Frankie J. Sneed; siblings and spouses, Sandy and Jeanie Sneed, Brenda and Chris Barnhill, Mitch and Cyndi Sneed; children and spouses, Art Jr. and Dreama Sneed, Drenda and Jeff Hunnicutt, Joedy and Shellie McGraw, Cliff and Terry Johnson, Jeff and Leslie Johnson, Melody and Mark Hall, Eric and Stephanie Johnson, Joel and Crystal Johnson; 25 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, followed by a celebration of life at Message of Love Church, 306 Pearl Beaty Road, Belmont, NC.  Reverend Kenny Compton will be officiating the service, along with other ministers.  A graveside service will be held at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia on Monday, April 23, with a procession leaving from Message of Love Church at 11:00 a.m. to the cemetery.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to Message of Love Church Food Bank Ministry at P.O.
