Barbara Sims Hartness

Barbara S. Hartness, 76, of Mount Holly, died Saturday, September 22, 2018.  She was born in Andrews, NC to the late John and Marie Sims.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Stamey; and two brothers Joe and Ernest Sims.  She was a member of True Gospel Interdenominational Church.  Those left to cherish her memory include her life partner Calvin Thomas; children Ronnie Stowe (Vanessa) of Stanley, Johnny Stowe (Tammy) of Mt. Holly, Donnie Stowe (Wanda) of Charlotte, Mike Stowe (Cathy) of Mt. Holly, Debbie Watson of Mount Holly, Sandy Gantz of Gastonia; sister Jenny Steele (Allen) of Chester, SC; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.  A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 26 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, officiated by Pastor Randy Sutherland and Rev. Joel Stamey, Jr.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, also at the funeral home, and at others time at the home of Ronnie and Vanessa Stowe, 705 B Mauney Road, Stanley.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd. Gastonia, NC 28054.
