Burette Franklin "Doc" Mullis, 92, of Charlotte, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy. He was born in Gaston County to the late Alice Rushing Mullis and John W. Mullis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Cora Lea Laughter Mullis as well as his siblings, Mary Walker, Perry Mullis, Virginia Hamilton, Paul Mullis, Wade Mullis, Raymond Mullis, Grace Aiken, and Shirley Weatherford. Survivors left to cherish Doc's memory include his four children Vicki Teresa Mullis, Deborah R. Aguirre (David), Frank Mullis (Sherry), and Jeffrey Mullis; as well as three grandchildren Carla Mullis, Steven Mullis, and Christopher Aguirre. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 21 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly. The family will receive friends for two hours before the service from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will conclude the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mt. Holly.
