Christean Pressley Obituary

Christean Singer Pressley, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2018.  She was born September 23, 1931 in Madison County, Kentucky to Jim and Gussie Singer. While serving as the Sunday School Secretary at Pilot Knob Baptist Church, she met and married the church pastor, R. Mack Pressley.   From the hills of Kentucky to the Piedmont of North Carolina, she served faithfully beside him for 60 years. While she never stepped in the pulpit, she had a way of spreading Christ’s love in many other ways. Whether it was teaching Sunday School,  serving the youth of the church or those who attended one of the camps, speaking to women’s groups, or mentoring the wives of young pastors, Christean served faithfully in whatever mission field God laid before her.

After Mack was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, part of her ministry became educating herself and others about the dangers of this disease.  Many doctor’s referred to Mack as a “walking miracle.” He always pointed to Christean because she had made changes to every aspect of life to ensure he was healthy and able to do the work God called them to do.

Throughout her life, her children and grandchildren have been told and have seen with their own eyes that she was the true definition of a Godly wife and mother.  Through trials and tribulations and in moments of uncertainty, she held to God’s promises. In the best of times and the worst of times, she proclaimed, “My Anchor holds!”

She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters Julie Potts (Terry), Holley Cook, and Kim Hall (Rob); grandchildren, Jon Potts (Carol), Jim Potts (Rachel), Lee Potts, Jordan Potts, Melissa Wilson (Ronnie); great grandchildren Eric, Ben, and Ella Potts and Rhett Cash Wilson; sister, Laura Broaddus; sisters in law, Pat Singer and Gloria Singer; and numerous nieces and nephews; cherished friends, Barbara Jenkins and Donna Wallace.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pressley will be held at 2:00 on Friday, March 30 at Tuckaseege Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Marlowe and Dr. John Scheitler officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering North American Mission Board, P.O. Box 116543, Atlanta, GA 30368 (note in the memo line: Annie Armstrong Easter Offering) or Autism Services of Mecklenburg County, 2211 Executive St # A Charlotte, NC 28208.
