David Ray Coley

David Ray Coley, age 53, passed away August 5, 2018 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

He was preceded in his death by his father, Clarence Ray Coley, and mother, Shirley Dean Morris Coley.

David leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Sherry Hansil Coley, of 30 years; their children Rebecca Gillespie and wife, Kristen of Durham, NC and Dylan Coley of Birmingham, AL; his sister, Sharon Fisher of Iron Station, NC; his aunt Goldie Morris of Charlotte, NC, and many other family and friends.

He was a valued and loved employee at The Massey Company during his 34 years of service.

David was an avid sports fan and especially loved Alabama football. He enjoyed reading, podcasts, and the TV show The West Wing.

The family wishes to express their thanks to all the nursing staff and physicians of Novant Health Huntersville and the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of Novant Health Presbyterian. 

Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Alexis Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Jeff Moore. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hickory Cove Bible Camp (170 Ferguson Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681), Stanley Parks and Recreation Center (P.O. Box 279 Stanley, NC 28164), or the Sack Lunch Program (First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 490, Stanley NC 28164).
