Doris Faye (Davis) Benfield

Doris Davis Benfield, age 76, of Stanley, North Carolina was called home to be with her Lord at 6:13 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in Dallas. Born September 17, 1942, in Kings Mountain, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Everette and Elizabeth Davis. She was a high school graduate and, on September 16, 1961, Doris married the love of her life, Vinson Benfield. From that point on, she spent her days as a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother.

From her birth to her death, she nourished the people around her with love, faith, and delicious home cooking. In addition to being a homemaker, she also served for many years in the kitchen at Catawba Heights Baptist Church Daycare and Gaston Christian School.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Vinson Benfield, children Jim Benfield (and wife Julia), Karen Cauthen, and David Benfield (and wife Shellie), 6 grandchildren, Travis Benfield (and wife Heather), Meghan Benfield, Nathan Benfield (and wife Regina), KatieCauthen, Josh Benfield, and Cody Cauthen, and 2 great-grandchildren, John Paul and Claire Benfield. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Davis (and wife Rachel). She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Davis Conrad (and husband Leon Conrad).

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly, N.C. The family will greet friends at Hickory Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the start of the service.
