Edna Caskey Joye

Edna Caskey Joye, 96, of Belmont, went home to be with Jesus peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her home.  She was born in North Belmont the daughter of Ervin Bundy Caskey, Sr. and Jennie Mae Helms Caskey.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Ervin Bundy Caskey, Jr., Emma Ruth Witherspoon, Ronnie Tabitha Glass, Evelyn Eulaine Padgett, Jennie Irene Miller, and Cletus Leroy Caskey; as well as a granddaughter Amy Danielle Joye.  Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 73 years James Brevard Joye; sons Jerry Wayne Joye (Chris) of Gastonia and Barry Lynn Joye of Belmont; two sisters Eunice Rose Caskey Phillips of Stanley and Lillian Carol Caskey Bradshaw of Clover, SC; four grandchildren Rebecca Michelle Joye (Craig), Melissa Beth Bancroft (Corey), Rocky Pack, and Douglas Viars; as well as four great grandchildren.  Edna will be remembered by her family as a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and she will truly be missed by all of them.  A service to celebrate her life officiated by Pastor Erin Yow and Rev. Tommy Owensby will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at South Point United Methodist Church, 510 South Point Church Road in Belmont.  The family will greet guests at the church from noon until the funeral hour at 1:30.  Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
