Galen Darrell Upton

Galen Darrell Upton, 57, of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.  He was born in Mitchell County son of Mary Burleson Upton and the late Hugh Darrell Upton.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Flossie Upton and maternal grandmother Grace Burleson.  Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Charlene; children Caleb Darrell Upton and wife Brittany, Matthew Galen Upton, and Pamela Michelle Gammon and husband Christian; siblings Mark Upton and wife Lori, Daren Upton, Karen Upton, and Rick Upton and wife Patricia; grandchildren Emily Faith Upton, Wyatt Caleb Upton, Michaela Diane Gammon, Christian Michael Gammon, Raelyn Jean Gammon Delilah Rose, and Jade Alizabeth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 followed directly by a service to celebrate his life at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
