Helen Elizabeth (Tripp) Spruill

Helen Elizabeth Tripp Spruill, 75, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the Stanley Total Living Center. She was born in Pamlico County, N.C. daughter of the late Robert Lee and Nina Emma Bennett Tripp. She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell Chester “Chet” Spruill Jr. and an infant brother Dudley Curtis Tripp. She was a public school teacher, and a member of Alexis Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include a son Chet Spruill III and wife Crystal of Hickory, a daughter Leigh Ann Hager of Stanley, two sisters Sylvia Willis of New Bern, Martha Mitchener of Morehead City, six grandchildren Kristin Gary, Zachary Hager, Parker and Jacob Spruill, Jade and Gwyn Brooks, and two great grandchildren Bennett and Braylon Gary.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Spruill will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday February 8, 2018 at Alexis Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Sandy Marks and Reverend Mike Mitchener officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family extends special thanks to Hospice of Lincoln County, the staff of Stanley Total Living Center, and two special caregivers Bobbie Holloman and Evelyn Barton. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the family.
