Homer Mack Bumgardner, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
He was the son of the late Bill and Artie Hefner Bumgardner and the husband of the late Betty Bumgardner. Homer was a 1943 graduate of Belmont High School and was also a graduate of Belmont Textile School. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was employed as an Overseer at the Acme Spinning Company where he retired after 50 years of service.
Homer is survived by his son, Mickey Bumgardner and wife Jean; three granddaughters, Shannon Wagner (Brian), Jaime Williams (Chris) and Jennifer Hamrick (Tracy); six great grandchildren, Aaron and Stephen Hamrick, Danielle Walters, Hannah Wagner, Theresa Fulbright and Daniel Cavada; two great-great grandsons, Titus and Liam Walters; brother Donald Bumgardner; sisters Margaret Lingerfelt and Pauline Goudlock Cole; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dewey, Andrew, and Jack Bumgardner.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm Saturday April 21 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly and at other times at 227 Springwood Drive in Belmont. The funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday April 22 at Berea Baptist Church, 2522 Hickory Grove Road in Gastonia, with burial to follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
