James Reba Simmons

James Reba Simmons, 91, of Gastonia passed away Saturday July 27, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Gastonia, son of the late Gaither Garrison and Ann Strutt Simmons.  He proudly served  his country in the U.S. Army from 1949-1951 serving in Germany and France.  He was a member of Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church in Charlotte.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Joe Simmons; Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rosa Crowe Simmons; three children; Charlotte Simmons of Bessemer City, James Simmons  (Jody) Stearns, KY, David Simmons (Jill) of Clemmons, NC ; A brother Clyde Edward Simmons (Pat) of Raleigh, A sister Mary Pressley (Eddie) of Gastonia; Nine Grandchildren: Niki Stone, Amy Stone, Laura Stone, Mary Call, Jenifer Stone, Danielle Tucker, James Simmons II, Holly Simmons, and Eric Simmons as well as 4 great grandchildren: Tyr, Lor, Lillian, and Lydia.  A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Simmons's life will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday August 4 at Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church:  920 N. Sharon Amity Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211.   The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Radio Station Ministry- WGFY 290 N. Sharon Amity Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211 or to Gaston Hospice 258 E. Garrison Blvd. Gastonia, NC 28054.  Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the Simmons family.
