Jerry Dean Rimmer, Sr., 83, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Raymond and Texie Sisk Rimmer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jewel McAllister Rimmer; a son, Ronald Allen Rimmer; and a great-granddaughter, Rebekah Benfield.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and member of Alexis Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing, and had a love of all animals.

Jerry is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Becky Rimmer Lanford of Alexis; his son, Jerry Dean Rimmer, Jr. and wife, Regina of Stanley; his sister, Betty Rimmer Lemons; his brothers, Donald Rimmer, and wife, Louise, and Edward Rimmer; sisters-in-law, Polly Rimmer and Joyce Camp; brother-in-law, Ralph Keene; grandchildren, Angela Goins and husband, Drew, Julie Rimmer, Jeremy Benfield and wife, Star, Brandi Beacham and husband, Michael, Jessica Mellon and husband, Brent, Shane Rimmer, and Kristen Rimmer; great-grandchildren, Joshua Benfield, Landon and Madison Maxwell, and Braedyn and Addyson Honea; and his beloved horse, Macy.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rimmer will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Alexis Baptist Church with Dr. Sandy Marks officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Alexis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Tuesday at the church.
