Jeter Lee Smith was called home by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Mr. Smith is survived by his children Joel Smith and wife, Julie, of Charlotte; Pam Price and husband, Mike, of Salem, Virginia; and Mark Smith of Charlotte. He was the proud grandfather of Jenny Hargett and husband, Chas, of Seminole, FL; Anne Smith and husband, Steven Jones, of Charlotte; Leslie Walker and husband, Josh, of Denver, CO; and Adam Price and wife, Heather, of Garner, NC. Mr. Smith was also the proud great grandfather of Graham Hargett, Tate Hargett, Scarlett Jones, and Willa Jones. He is also survived by brothers Jerry Smith and wife, Judy, Jim Smith and wife, Vera, Richard Smith and wife, Nancy, and sister Sarah Yandle and husband, Bill, all of Charlotte, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Smith, and sisters Madeline Skipper and Margaret Privatte. Born July 23, 1927 in Charlotte to Jeter Lee Smith, Sr and Flavy Brittain Smith, he grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Thomasboro High School in 1945. Mr. Smith honorably served his country in WWII as a Naval aviation mechanic on the USS Leyte Aircraft Carrier from 1945 to 1948. Mr. Smith was a life-long faithful servant in the Presbyterian Church, lastly as a member of Goshen Presbyterian Church in Belmont, NC. The family of Mr. Smith would like to acknowledge Stress Free Home Care of Stanley, NC, and Novant Health Hospice for their caring and compassionate support given to Mr. Smith and his family the past few months. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Goshen Presbyterian Church, 300 Woodlawn St., Belmont, NC, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 also at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte. Memorials may be sent to Goshen Presbyterian Church.
