Joel Wayne Wooten

Joel W. Wooten, 65, of Mount Holly, died Sunday, April 29 at his home.  He was born in Albany, Georgia a son of Virginia McCoy Wooten and the late Joseph William Wooten.  In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by his wife Sharon; a daughter Legare Wooten, two sons Alex and Jacob Wooten, and a bonus daughter Katelynn Devine; two grandchildren Tyler and Cohen Wooten; a sister Connie Featherstone; a brother Ferry Wooten; and special friends Pam and Joe Featherstone, Joni Bynum, and Mike and Jesse Long.  A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, May 2 at 2:00 pm at Queen of the Apostles, 503 N. Main Street in Belmont officiated by Msgr. Mauricio West.  Interment will follow in the cemetery of St. Helen Catholic Church, Spencer Mountain.  Memorials may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church Foundation, c/o Deacon Guy Piche, 2913 Ryan Conley Court, Gastonia, NC 28056.
