Joel W. Wooten, 65, of Mount Holly, died Sunday, April 29 at his home. He was born in Albany, Georgia a son of Virginia McCoy Wooten and the late Joseph William Wooten. In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by his wife Sharon; a daughter Legare Wooten, two sons Alex and Jacob Wooten, and a bonus daughter Katelynn Devine; two grandchildren Tyler and Cohen Wooten; a sister Connie Featherstone; a brother Ferry Wooten; and special friends Pam and Joe Featherstone, Joni Bynum, and Mike and Jesse Long. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, May 2 at 2:00 pm at Queen of the Apostles, 503 N. Main Street in Belmont officiated by Msgr. Mauricio West. Interment will follow in the cemetery of St. Helen Catholic Church, Spencer Mountain.
