John "Johnny" William Wilson, Jr., 75 years, 6 months, 2 weeks and 4 days old, passed away November 4th, 2018 at his home in Oak Island, NC. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Robena Ewing and John William Wilson, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janet H. Wilson; daughter Merry Leigh Wilson; son Thomas Henry Wilson; and a grandson Bradley Nolen. Johnny never met a stranger and was loved by so many. He lived a simple but extraordinary life. Those left to cherish his memory include his children Angela Wilson Freeman (Larry), of Mount Holly, John W. Wilson III, of Oak Island, NC, Cynthia Wilson Nolen, of Lincolnton, Sherry Jackson of Florida; a brother Richard "Dickie" Leonard (Brenda); two nieces and one nephew; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as two beloved pets Penny Lane and Blackie. A celebration of his life service officiated by Rev. Vernie Pettit will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. The family will greet guests at the funeral home Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 7 until 9:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of life service for all of his Oak Island family planned at a later date.
