Kelly "Scott" Braswell, 53, passed away Monday afternoon following complications from suffering a stroke. He will be remembered as the redneck version of a Renaissance Man, as he was good at many things -- a talented guitarist (truly, he had command of any stringed instrument), carpenter, mechanic, electrician. Though it is my opinion that the thing he was best at was being my dad. Any time you turn on the classic rock station and hear The Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Fleetwood Mac, please take a moment to imagine my dad playing air guitar along to it, or drumming his palms on the steering wheel of his truck. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local ASPCA in his memory. My dad loved animals much more than he loved flowers. If you're the proud owner of a motorcycle, please think of him the next time you're riding on a long country road. A celebration of his life will be held from 11 to 1:00 pm Saturday, January 26 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
