Mary Louise (Armstrong) Brafford

Mary Armstrong Brafford passed away at her home in Charlotte on Thursday, September 26, 2019. She was born in Gaston County on December 11, 1933 the daughter of Marvin R. and Geneva Mecimore Armstrong, Sr. She held various jobs throughout her life with most of her career as a tax preparer. She was employed by the IRS and retired from the Census Bureau. She then started her own tax business and continued until her death.

Mary was taught the meaning of hard work by her parents and the importance of kindness. She had an extraordinary life and traveled the world. She especially enjoyed the beach. Mary had a zest for life that was contagious. She was loved by all that met her and will be greatly missed. Taking from the character Maxine's motto:  "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body.  But rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.....WOO HOO - what a ride it was!!!"

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin R. Armstrong, Jr.

She is survived by her son Doug Brafford, daughter Christi Brafford, grandson Kevin Brafford and granddaughter Meredith Brafford Towle and husband Frank Towle. She is also survived by three great grandchildren Westyn, Blakely and Evan Brafford Towle.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Cook's Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mount Holly-Huntersville Road at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.
