Norman Alexander McClure Of Alexis, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
He was born in Lincoln County on February 19, 1940 to the late Mace and Bryte McClure.
Norman was a respected father and husband, gentle, kind, good spirited with a great sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, a NC State alumnus, who retired from Gaston County Dye after 41 years of dedicated service. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and gardener who enjoyed the good company of his family and friends. If he was not in his home, you could always find him on a tractor or a bulldozer.
Even during the difficult health challenges he faced later in life Norman kept his focus, hope, and courage in the Lord Jesus Christ, a lesson we all could share.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Joy Herman McClure, his children; Mark McClure (Angie), Kristie Locklear (Allen), Tracie Jenkins (Heath), Leslie Brimer (Chuck), Stepsons Kenny Herman (Lisa),and Michael Herman (Leigh) his grandchildren; Dylan McClure (Talia), Maren and Cade (Abbey)Brown, Cameron Richard, Luke, Aurelia, and Benjamin Brimer, Matthew and Emily Herman, Ben, Jake, and John Herman, Dylan Jenkins, his brother Scott McClure (Peggy), his sisters Pamela Stroupe(Ray), Wanda Murphy(Harry), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Homecoming Celebration Service will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2151 Mt. Zion Church Road, Alexis, NC on Sunday, September 30 at 4pm. The family will receive friends before the service from 2pm until 4pm.
