Rachel Ann (Whitner) Wingate

Rachel Ann Whitner Wingate, 81, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Henry Ford and Elizabeth Fisher Whitner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Craig Wingate. She was a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church where she participated in the Happy Hearts Club and the Presbyterian Women's Circle. She was also actively involved with her Belmont High School Class of 1956.

Ms. Wingate is survived by her daughters, Donna Wingate Williams (Doug) and Camille Wingate Kitchens; her sisters, Dianne W. Godley and Kay W. Merrill; her daughter-in-law, Judy Wingate; her grandchildren, Brandon Mullis (Meredith Johnson), Stephanie Mullis, Jessica Mullis (Kevin Mackainch), William Wingate, Sara Wingate (Gerrit Van Genderen), Cole Kitchens, Isabella Kitchens and Joshua Kitchens; and her great-grandchildren, Ava Mullis and Harper Johnson.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Wingate will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, Charlotte. Minister Elliott Hipp will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, 7400 Mount Holly Road, Charlotte, NC 28214.
