Robena Chronister Strickland, 97, died October 9, 2018 at the Stanley Total Living Center.

She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late William C. and Mamie Armstrong Chronister, and was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Strickland, a daughter Sally S. Cannon, two brothers Gus and Coy Chronister, and three sisters Lillie Matthews, Aline Huskins, and Nealie Smith. She was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church in Stanley.

Survivors include a daughter Darlene Strickland of Iron Station, a grandson Aaron Cannon, a great grandson Joshua Cannon, a sister in law Pansy Lail of Shelby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thank you to the dedicated staff of Stanley Total Living Center for their care of “Bena”.

The funeral service conducted by Reverend David McClure and Reverend Keith Chronister will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at New Life Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Friday. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens.
