Ronald Joseph ("Duck") Cherry

Ronald Joseph "Duck" Cherry, 81, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at his home. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late James and Iona Wilma Coley Cherry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sheila Beal, Beany Cherry and Tom Cherry.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Hutchins Cherry; his daughters, Julie Cherry Burke and Nicole Cherry Caddell (David); his siblings, John Cherry (Pat), Polly Mabrey (Bob), Barbara Cummings (Zeb), Wanda Rivera (Jim), Randy Cherry (Jeannie) and Tony Cherry (Gloria); his grandchildren, Jason Caddell, Mackenzie Caddell, Patrick Burke and Ryan Burke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cherry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Dr. Danny Penny will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
