Mrs. Sadie Louise Harstin Barker, age 94, of Mt. Holly, NC passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019. Mrs Barker passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Barker was born December 25, 1924 in Gastonia, NC to the late George W. Harstin and Gladys Clark Harstin. In addition to her parents Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. 

Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband of 78 years, Rev. Johnnie A. Barker; daughters Amelia “Micki” Carpenter (Charles) of Columbia, SC; Rebecca “Becky” Erickson (Evan) of Columbia, SC; Kathy Taylor (Gerald) of Mt. Holly, NC and Crystal Rose (Benny) of Mt. Holly, NC.; sisters Vivian Spencer of Denver, NC and Patricia Robbins of Gastonia, NC; Grandchildren: Butch (Kandie), Richard (Shannon), Tim, Chris, Jonathan (Joy), Jennifer, Lee (Tonya), Jessica (Mark) and Jasmin; 20 Great Grandchildren and 14 Great Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Barker is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other special relatives. 

Rev. and Mrs. Barker founded Family Worship Center, Mt. Holly, NC in 1962. Mrs. Barker was a minister of the gospel for many years. Often referred to as Sis. Barker, she was considered a spiritual mother throughout her ministry. Mrs. Barker was a confidant, friend, and mentor and her prayers are what many feel have kept them going through the years. Mrs. Barker leaves a legacy of many ministers that have been inspired and encouraged by her life. Mrs. Barker was author and publisher of four books which were used by many throughout the world.

Visitation with family will be at Woodlawn Funeral Home Mt. Holly, NC from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, May 15th. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1pm at Family Worship Center 1013 W. Charlotte Ave. (Hwy 27) Mt. Holly, NC conducted by Rev. Gerald Taylor.
