Stanley
Ted David Garner, 85, passed away March 6, 2018 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Stanley, son of the late R.C and Addie Lee Cannon Garner. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Stanley, and retired from Duke Energy Riverbend plant after 30 years of service. He was a retired volunteer fireman with the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department, and served in the United States Air Force. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Weeta Rhyne Garner, a son David Garner and wife Debbie of Stanley, a daughter Gay G. Johnson and husband Steve of Denver, NC, a brother Joe Garner and wife Betty of Hickory, nephew Greg Garner and wife Elizabeth of Holly Ridge, Grandchildren Josh Johnson and wife Laurie of Gastonia, Kellie Tims and husband Vaunn of Charlotte, Trevor and Harley Johnson of Denver, Great grandchildren Caleb and Olivia Johnson, Kendrick and Jonathon Tims.
The funeral service conducted by Pastors Noel Sweezy and Steve Johnson will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday March 9, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Stanley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will follow in Hillcrest Gardens.
