William Whiten Stowe died peacefully at Covenant Village on February 1 where he has resided for nine years with his wife, Isabelle Moore Stowe. He was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Robert Hamilton Stowe and Nannie Beaty Stowe. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Robert H. Stowe, Larken Beaty Stowe, Charles Wearn Stowe, and Samuel Edwin Stowe. Mr. Stowe was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Holly where he served as elder, deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He served in the United States Navy from June, 1943, until March, 1946. Bill retired from Duke Power after 35 years. He graduated from Mount Holly High School and Belmont Abbey. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Isabelle Moore Stowe and a number of nieces and nephews especially Linda Stowe Jackson, Holley Anne Winikoff, and Stowe Nelson. The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to the Covenant Village staff for their care and support during Bill’s illness. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. A private family graveside service will be held at The Old Mount Holly Cemetery, Stowe Plot, on Saturday, February 3, by Dr. Janet DeWater.
