Allen Eugne "Gene" Eckard, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday February 13, 2025 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Everette Eckard and Ruth Leatherman Eckard.
Gene was a simple, kind, and gentle soul who never had a negative word to say about anyone. The joy in his life came whenever he spent time with his family who will miss him dearly. He was a member of Cross Fix Ministries in Belmont. He enjoyed many trips throughout the U.S. alongside his wife and other friends and also enjoyed working in his yard and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Those left to cherish his memory include his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 1/2 years, Rachel Eckard, his daughters: Dawn Massie (Ronnie), and Mellissa Robinson (Brian); his sisters: Peggy Ann Ward (Ernest), and Glenda Sue Mauldin, and his brother Terry Lynn Eckard; Three Grandchildren: Jason Jackson (Jennifer), Trevor Robinson (Andi), and Austin Robinson (Jessica), five great grandchildren: Hunter Jackson, Kaelyn Jackson, Beckam Robinson, Brooks Robinson, and Tate Robinson.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday February 18, 2025 at CrossFix Ministries in Belmont. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 on Tuesday also at the Church. The family will hold a private inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont at a later date.
