Alvin L. Denton, 72, of Mount Holly, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, son of the late Albert L. Denton and Sally Mae Hamilton Denton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Kay Walden, James Denton, Brenda Stallings, and Vickie Faulkenbury. He served as a proud Marine during the Vietnam War. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Vicky L. Denton; a son Rufus Scott Denton (Ann); a daughter June D. Conroy (Kenny); sisters Barbara Horton, Margaret Whitt, and Joann Mungo; a brother Gene Denton; grandchildren Zac Denton, Payton Conroy, Ryan Denton, Hunter Conroy, and John Denton; one great grandbaby on the way; as well as his service dog Stella. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, at Finish Line Christian Center, 108 N. Main Street in Mount Holly. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. Online condolences may be left at www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
