Ann Rhyne Obituary

Ann Michael Rhyne went to her long-awaited heavenly home on June 8 surrounded by her loving family. Our great loss here on earth is truly heaven’s gain.

Ann was a woman of deep faith who loved Jesus all of her 82 years. She was the glue of her large family - a devoted wife, adoring mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother, “Nunu”.

Ann lived a full life traveling the nation from coast to coast on the back of a Harley Davidson with her husband, Cotton. Tuesdays, you could find her at Goodwill with her sister, Joy, scoping out Christmas presents, no matter the time of year. She loved her Green Bay Packers, Krispy Kreme donuts, and nightly viewing of Wheel of Fortune. Ann was the ultimate hostess, who always had her house seasonally decorated and lived to throw a party. Her Fourth of July and Super Bowl soirees were famous amongst family and friends.

She was a proud member of Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church and a long supporter of many ministries. In spite of her diagnosis, she never stopped inspiring her family, friends and nurses with her optimistic perspective and excitement for heaven.

She is now reunited with her mother and father, Anna Mae and George Michael, who went before her, along with her brothers, Larry Michael and George (Dickie) Michael. Ann is survived by her sweetheart of 64 years, Martin (Cotton) Rhyne, along with their children, Marty Rhyne (Sherri), Julie Chamberlain (Eddie), Steven Rhyne (Kim), and Corey Rhyne (Lisa) and grandchildren Madalyn Rhyne, Caleb Rhyne (Kaylan), Hannah Rhyne, Emily Ledford (Isaac), Anna Mienke (Colton), Mary Beth Rhyne, Grace Lunsford (Tyler), and Emma Rhyne, along with her great-grandsons Grayson Rhyne and Barrett Ledford. She is also survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Joy Buckner (Ned), along with sisters-in-law Susan Michael, Debbie Michael and Weeta Garner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her Hospice team, especially Lauren Chandler, who lovingly cared for Ann the past six months. They have been such a gift to the whole family.

A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on her birthday, June 16th, at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3pm, with a reception to follow. Please consider wearing celebratory colors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to VIA Health Partners 900 Dontia Dr. Lincolnton, NC 28092 or to Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church 113 E. Parkwood St. Stanley, NC 28164. Arrangements are being handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home.
