Anthony Renaldo "Butch" Greene, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday September 12, 2025 at the Wendover Heights Hospice House in Shelby. He was born in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late Earl Greene and Juanita Greene. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Peggy Greene, as well as his two sons Todd and Chad Greene.
Butch was a dedicated Christian and served as a Deacon at Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Rhonda Slifer (Mark), his sister Eris Ash; two grandchildren: Mallory Kirkland (Taylor) and Caleb Greene, two great grandchildren: Miller Kirkland and Coleson Greene, as well as his beloved dog Holly.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 17, 2025 at Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley with Pastor Eddie McGinnis officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service on Wednesday also at the Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
