Barbara Funderburk Oglesby, age 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Cloncey and Eula Lindsay Jones, and Paul Funderburk In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Oglesby, Sr., her daughter Delia Yarborough, her son Jerry Wayne Oglesby, Jr. as well as her grandson Donnie Bradshaw.
Barabara was a 1957 graduate of Belmont High School. She had a strong faith, and she served the Lord in many different ways. She was a longtime active member of Catawba Heights Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and also served as a volunteer for prison ministry. She was a recently a member Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, and also sang gospel music on WCGC in Belmont alongside her husband. She loved her family dearly and was better known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters: Kathy Oglesby, and Linda Oglesby Haynes (Dan), her brother Ralph Funderburk; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, as well as 6 great great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday November 23, 2024 at Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Mount Holly with Pastors Herman Winkler, Randy Winkler, and Odell Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday also at the Church. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Carolina Caring Hospice.
