Barbara Edwards Sherrin, 89, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026. at the Robin Johnson Hospice House. She was born in Anderson County, SC, daughter of the late Joseph Albert Edwards, Sr. and Ellen Arline Nichols Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Sherrin; and her brother, Joseph Albert Edwards, Jr.
Mrs. Sherrin is survived by her children, David Charles Sherrin and Susan Errin Andrews (Dwayne); her grandchildren, Seth Michael Sherrin (Ashton), Dara Elaine Sherrin, Katie Andrews Osborne (Jacob), and Brittany Andrews Stikes (Daniel); her great-grandchildren, Selah Grace, Amelia, Simon, Reeves, Noah, Silas, Ezekiel, and Isaiah; her siblings, James Edwards and Deborah Cashwell; her sister-in-law, Linda Edwards; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sherrin was an active member of the Wesleyan Church and held several positions. She was choir director for many years, Sunday School teacher and leader of the ladies WMU group. She loved reading, sewing, and gardening in her spare time. She worked for several years for the Gastonia YMCA as a bookkeeper and later for the Gaston County School Administration. She loved her family and her church family with all her heart. She will be missed by all that knew her.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sherrin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Burial will be private, at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Sherrin's grandsons and great-grandsons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
