Barbara (Ballard) Smith

Barbara Ballard Smith, 86, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Roland Craig Ballard, Sr. and Lelia Florine Bynum Ballard. In addition to her parents, she is now reunited with her forever sweetheart, her husband, Harold Franklin Smith; and her brother, R.C. Ballard, Jr.

Mrs. Smith truly loved her family and is survived by her children, Brad Smith (Deanna), Lea Ann Edwards (Al), and Chris Miller (Monty); her grandchildren, Brittany Smith (Chris), Andrea Bratt (Landon), Alicia Lever (Davis), and Lindsey Carper (Noah); her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Braylee, Coraline, and Nolan; her sister, Linda Saunders; and a number of nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as having a heart of gold and one that loved helping others. She loved the North Carolina mountains, antiques, crafting, bluegrass music, and shopping.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Alexis Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Scott Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Alexis Baptist Church.
