Barry Norman Rumfelt, 78, a loving family man and a true Patriot, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Jack Norman Rumfelt and Ruby Henderson Rumfelt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel 'Juanita' Hall Rumfelt. Mr. Rumfelt retired from the NCANG as a Chief Master Sergeant and a full-time civil servant with over 38 years service. He was a member at Second Baptist Church, Mount Holly.
Mr. Rumfelt is survived by his children, Derek Rumfelt (Victoria), Andrea Smith (Michael), and Mandy Barber (David); his siblings, Richard Rumfelt, Marty Barnes (Ron), and Sam Rumfelt (Susan); his grandchildren, Stephen Lowery (Jennifer), Kensie Hayes (Thomas), Kayla Jackson (Wes), Callie Lyew (Robert), Aaron Rumfelt, Lauren Smith, Brodie Hilton, Jordan Smith, and Madison Smith; 6 great-grandchildren; his fiance', Janet Pate; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rumfelt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Second Baptist Church, Mount Holly. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the church.
