Bernice (Ellis) Griffin

Bernice Ellis Griffin, age 85 passed away on Sunday April 23, 2023 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.  She was born in Mecklenburg County and was the daughter of the late Bruce and Sopiha Martin Ellis.  Bernice was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who always put others needs ahead of her own.  She was a very generous person and will be remembered as the Best Mother Ever.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jack Griffin, and three sons: Michael, Dennis, and David Greene.  Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Robert Ellis, and Troy "Squeaky" Greene, her sister Mary Lee Cornelius, her grandchildren: Robbie Ellis, Glenn Helms, Jamie Greene, Teresa Wright, Amanda Gibson, and Amy Hughes; as well as nine great grandchildren.   A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday April 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday also at the Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly.
