It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Betty Lanier, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2024 at the age of 96. Betty was born on May 1,1928 and lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, James E. Lanier, Father Pink Pryor and mother Ruth Pryor, her two brothers, James Pryor and Paul Pryor and four sisters, Sarah Perkins, Novella Sisk, Rose Lindsay, and Roxanna McGinnis.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Hilderbrand and husband Bob, son Ray Lanier and wife Lucy. She was a proud grandmother to Bobby Hilderbrand (wife Angel), Tammy Dedmon (husband Jim), Eddie Lanier (wife Joanna), David Lanier and Grace Lanier. Her great-grandchildren, Clarence Taylor (wife Jessica). Timothy Taylor (wife Emily), Robert Hilderbrand (wife Maddie), John Hilderbrand (wife Danielle), Lily Lanier, and JJ Gibson will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind great-great-grandchildren Grayson and Jaxon Taylor and Kinslee and Robert (Bubba) Hilderbrand along my nieces and nephews.
Betty's life was filled with love, compassion and dedication to her family and the Lord. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Stanley. She touched the hearts of many and will be remembered for her kindness, spunkiness and generosity.
A visitation will be held on Monday July 15, 2024 from 6:30-8:30 at First Freewill Baptist of Stanley. A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2024 at 2:00pm First Freewill Baptist Church of Stanley. The entombment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens. Rev. Bobby Hilderbrand will be officiating the service. Memorials can be made to First Freewill Baptist Church of Stanley 402 Hovis Rd. Stanley, NC 28164.
