Bobby Ray Setzer, Jr.

Bobby Ray Setzer, Jr., 69, of Mount Holly, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was born in Monmouth, New Jersey to Bobby Ray Setzer and the late Elizabeth Ann Burlett Bishop. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his two siblings, Patricia McCarthy and Steven Setzer, as well as his wife, Debra Setzer. Bob retired after 27 years with the Mount Holly Fire Department, where he was Fireman of the Year in 1986.  In 1981 he received the William L. Lathan Award for Crew Member of the year for the Mount Holly Life Saving Crew.  Bobby also received the Fireman of The Year award in 1976 for the Catawba Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  He will be remembered as the guy that would give you the shirt off of his back. In addition to his father, those left to cherish his memory include his children, Michael, Travis, Darren (Elizabeth), and Shaun Setzer; his siblings, Edward Setzer and Deborah Guy (Lewis); as well as nine grandchildren. The family will greet guests from 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate his life will be held immediately following at 12:00, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mount Holly Fire Department Auxiliary, P.O. Box 406 Mount Holly, NC 28120. Interment will conclude at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
