Bobby "Bob" Tate, age 83, passed away on Saturday October 12, 2024 at Belaire Health & Rehab Center in Gastonia. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Buford and Alice West Tate.
Baseball was a lifelong passion for Bob. He exceled at both the High School and American Legion level and went on to play at both Clemson and UNCW. He spent his career in the Textile industry as a supervisor at J P Stevens as well as other companies. He most recently worked as a parking lot attendant at the Gaston County Courthouse. Outside of work, he enjoyed being outdoors mostly running and walking. Family time was important to him, especially when the family traveled together.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Delores Tate, his children: Shannon Tate (Julie), and Casey Tate (Erik Selvey); his grandchildren: Jared Tanner (Hunter), Cadee Tate, Alyssa Selvey, and Adrianne Selvey, as well as one great grandchild Kohen Tanner.
The family will gather to receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday October 15, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
