Dory 'Braylan' Hux, 14, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 18, 2021. He was born in Gaston County, son of Dory Brendan Hux and Melissa Dawn Hux. Braylan was a student at Mount Holly Middle School where he was a member of the chorus and the soccer team. Braylan also played for the Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC). In addition to soccer, Braylan enjoyed basketball and gaming on his Xbox. He was preceded in death by his paternal-grandmother, Brenda Hux; his uncle, Christopher Hux; and his aunt, Lisa Hux.
Soccer was Braylan's greatest passion, and if you ever asked him, he would simply tell you that he was never offsides or committed a foul. His favorite memory was seeing Messi get a hat trick in Barcelona, Spain; he loved to go lefty like Lionel Messi. He enjoyed trying new sushi, ketchup, Chinese food, and Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, but his all time favorite was lobster. He favored being an older brother, as well as the ever-lasting bond he formed with his sister. If he wasn't home, he was always spending time with his maw maw and poppy. He also loved blasting Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott on his Alexa. More than anything, Braylan valued honesty over feelings.
In addition to his parents, Braylan is survived by his sister, Breanna Hux; his brother, Landon Hux; his paternal-grandfather, Major Dory B. Hux; his maternal-grandmother, Debra Lewis; his aunts, Alisa Isenhower and Tommie Swank; his uncle, Doug Swank; his cousin, Brenden Isenhower; his close friend, Trey Thomas; and his dogs, Roy Boy and Lola.
A service to celebrate Braylan's life will be private.
