Brenda Jane (Rhyne) Gantt

Brenda Jane Rhyne Gantt, 82, joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Robert "Windy" Rhyne and Ethel Martin Rhyne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Gantt, Sr.; and her sisters, Delores Rhyne Robinson, Gail Rhyne Brotherton, and Pat Rhyne Harrill. Brenda grew up on the Duke Power Riverbend Village and then moved to Stanley with her family. She was a loving mom, grandmother, and friend to all she knew. Her biggest treasure was her family. She was known by many names: Baby Jane, Brenda Jane, Janie Mae, and Jommers, Isn't Jane, and most infamously, Gran and Granny Poo! Brenda loved the Lord and gave Him the glory for it all.

Mrs. Gantt is survived by her son, Jimmy Gantt (Trina), Pam Gantt Fennessy (Darren), and Beverly Gantt Reese (John); her grandchildren, James Rhyne (Alli), Drew Gantt, Lauren Gantt, Chloe Fennessy, and Nicholas Fennessy; 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, Cotton Rhyne (Ann); her sister, Weeta Rhyne Garner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gantt will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Pastor Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Mount Holly. The Gantt family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
