Brendan was born on February 14, 1999, a Valentine’s Day gift who became the greatest love of his mother’s life. He was her only son, her wild child, her protector, and her saving grace.
For many years, his mother carried both roles in Brendan’s life. She was the one who was there for him through every season, loving and cherishing him every step of the way. The bond they shared was one that could never be replaced.
Brendan lived life in his own way. He stood firm in his principles and was not easily swayed from what he believed was right. He lived without fear and faced life with a boldness that was uniquely his. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. His personality drew people in, and those who knew him will remember his ability to make connections wherever he went.
Brendan enjoyed playing his video games and could lose himself in the worlds and adventures they offered. But some of his happiest moments were spent with his cousins, especially Dylan. His laughter with them, along with the memories of the times they shared, will be treasured by his family forever.
Brendan is survived by his mother Angie Johnson, who cherished him beyond words; his Mawmaw, Carolyn Hinson and David Hill; Marty Johnson; Shane and Shana Hinson; and siblings, Alyssa Hinson, Cheyenne Branch, and Shilo Branch. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins who love him very much.
He was preceded in death by his Pawpaw, Melvin Hinson; Pappy, Richard Bolick; Grandmother, Ruth Hinson; and his beloved dog, Lulu.
From his Mother
There is no way to describe what it feels like for a mother to lose her son. Brendan was a part of me from the moment he was born, and losing him has left a place in my heart that can never be filled. I would give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more hug, and one more chance to tell him how deeply he was loved.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 29, 2026 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service on Tuesday also at the Funeral Home.
My son, you were my wild child, my protector, my saving grace, and one of the greatest loves of my life. I will carry you with me for the rest of mine.
You were loved every day of your life, Brendan.
You will be missed every day of mine.
Forever my son. Forever in my heart. Love Mom.
