Bryan Barfield Obituary

Bryan Carlton Barfield, 39, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023. He was born in Kings Mountain, NC, son of Lehman N. Barfield III (wife, Teresa) and Lisa Barfield Hayes (husband, Reggie). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Jerry, & Marjorie Parton, and Lehman Barfield Jr. & Janet Barfield, and Floyd & Joyce Hayes. He was also preceded by fellow firefighter, Richard Miller.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kelli M. Barfield; his children, Trenton Barfield, Alyssah Duckworth, and Braden Duckworth; his brother, Christopher Barfield: Step-siblings Austin Ramsey; Lauren Ramsey and Victoria Hayes; his grandmother, Barbara Congleton; and multiple cousins. The family would like to acknowledge several, special bonds of friendships: Ashley Montgomery, Jake Kanburoglu, Justin Sommer, and Jay Jones.

Bryan loved his family, and he was dearly loved in return. He was a loving husband, brother, and son who shared a special bond with his children. He was known to be “The best dad ever” and was proud to be a father.

Bryan had a servant’s heart and lived his life through faith, family, and firefighting. At the age of 15, he was a Boy Scout Explorer and volunteered with his brother at Cramerton Fire Department. As a South Point High School student, he achieved the rank of Commander in ROTC. He then completed his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UNC-Charlotte, where he made lifelong friends as a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

His passion from an early age, Bryan continued his service through Cramerton FD, and was a lifelong resident of Cramerton. He also served Belmont FD and ultimately joined Charlotte FD, where he has worked for the past 12 years. His fellow firefighters described him as fun-loving, dedicated, and committed to his community.

After surviving two massive strokes, Bryan showed his strength and resilience to the world. Not only did he beat the odds and expectations for his recovery, but he returned to full duty at Charlotte Fire Department, a first for the organization, and in NC. His love for the industry, passion for his family, and service to others will leave behind a legacy in his community. His last gift of selflessness will be through organ donation where, even in death, Bryan continues to help other people in need.

Services will take place at Catawba Heights Baptist Church, Belmont on Friday, May 19th, 2023.

Family and friends are invited to visit for two hours prior to the start of the service where Bryan will lie in repose. Rev. Christopher Barfield and Rev.
