Carolyn Sue (Bonham) Payne

Carolyn Sue Bonham, age 81, went home to be with the Lord, family & friends on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was a Gastonia native & was the loving daughter of the late Geter Bonham & Myrtle Plemmons Bonham. She was a devoted follower of the Lord, Jesus Crist. She devoted caregiver to many, including her late husband, Lewis Payne. 
She had many non-biological children that were accepted as family. She enjoyed tending her vegetable & flower gardens, preparing meals for family & friends, & spreading her undying love to those She called family & friend. 
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Payne, her siblings, Floyd & Gerald Bonham, & Shirley Crowder. 
Her undying love will carry on with her son, Dwayne Payne & his wife Kathryn "Kat" Payne, her grandchildren; Jennifer Smith & Aaron "Blixx" Barber, her great grandchildren; Austin Smith, Anna-Kathryn McCall & her husband, Dustin McCall, & Ariana Barber, Her great great grandchild, Evelyn "Evie" Smith. She also has numerous nieces & nephews that she lived beyond words.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on May 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. On Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 pm, the family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. A dinner will be provided at Belmont Congregational Holiness Church.
