Carolyn Threatt Obituary

Mary Carolyn Walding Threatt, 86, passed away on Wednesday,January 8, 2025. She was born in Ozark, Alabama, on December 28, 1938, daughter of the late Rev. Marion Jackson Walding, Sr., and Fannie Johnson Walding. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev.Harold LeHew Threatt, and brothers Dan Walding, Bill Walding, MJ Walding, Tom Walding, and sister Catherine Joens.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. Her dream and prayer from childhood was to one day become a pastor's wife, which was realized when she met Harold. Among her talents were music, singing, cooking, and being a cheerful homemaker. Her biggest gifts included her deep, godly love for family and others and prayer. She could be found reading her Bible and praying daily, and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Charlotte. In 1975, she recorded her first and only sacred music album. Carolyn's love of God and her faith in him was evident to everyone she met. Her professional resume included: church secretary, life insurance agent, real estate broker, and a beauty advisor for Estee Lauder in Dillard's of South Park Mall from 1997 to 2020. She graduated from Carroll High School, Ozark, AL, and held a BRE from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.
She is survived by her loving family: son Gregory L. Threatt, daughter Elizabeth Threatt Ray (John), daughter Karen Threatt Elliott (Andy), son H. Bradley Threatt (Clara), granddaughters Hannah Ray, Vivien Ray, Lillian Threatt, Phoebe Jane Threatt, grandson Cleve Threatt, sister Jane Martin, brother Jim Walding, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday January 18, 2025 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Rd.,Charlotte, NC. The family will greet guests at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3:00pm at Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, SC. Reverend John C. Ray will be officiating.
