Catherine Leola (Benfield) VanDyke

Catherine Leola Benfield VanDyke, 68, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Zemma R. Benfield and Nancy Elizabeth Furr Benfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daniel VanDyke; and her infant children, Daniel Lanier VanDyke and Michelle Elaine VanDyke.

Mrs. VanDyke is survived by her son, David Alexander VanDyke (finace', Cherie Lane); her grandchild, Wynter; her siblings, Gary R. Benfield, Denise Rhodes (Jerry), and Sharon Young; her bonus daughter, Traci Clark, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. VanDyke will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Full Gospel Church, 106 School St., Belmont, NC 28012. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the church.
