Cecil Ira Smith, Jr.

Cecil Ira Smith, Jr., 81, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Cecil Ira Smith and Sarah Grice Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Bill" Smith. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany and worked in the HVAC field for over 30 years for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He was a former member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge. Mr. Smith loved spending time at his beach home and enjoyed fishing and doing yardwork. He had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren and his dachshund, Bella.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Sara Ann Shelton Smith; his children, Dana Ann Smith and Lisa Marie Smith Holland and son-in-law, Derek; his grandchildren, Josh, Justin, and Zach Holland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
