Charles "Chuckie" Brittain Jr., age 59, passed away on May 30, 2026 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Gaston County, son of Charles Brittain, Sr. and Wanda Peeler Brittain who survive. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents A.C. and Rita Mae Peeler and his paternal grandparents Mason and Mary Ellen Brittain.
He proudly served in the United States Army, something he remained proud of throughout his life. He was the kind of person who could make anyone laugh and never met a stranger. He loved watching the Carolina Tar Heels, spending time with friends, and often shared stories from his younger days playing softball. His family and friends were a big part of his life, and he cherished the time he spent with them. As a father of two, brother, son, uncle and grandfather of three, he will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for others, and the joy he brought to those lucky enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children: Taylor Brittain Pauley (Luke), and Christopher Charles Brittain; his sister Kelly Ray (Daniel); his grandchildren: Layla Cook, Samuel Cook, and Liam Pauley; his nephew Jacob Ray (Allie), niece Emily Ray, as well as many close friends and extended family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday June6, 2026 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday also at the Funeral Home.
