Claude Kelly Butler, 81, of Stanley, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Cramerton, son of the late Theodore Frazier Butler and Ethel Gertrude Reid Butler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clayton Frazier Butler, and his sister, Donna Butler Campbell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Sherry Morris Butler, two children, Amber Butler Roldan (Dominico) and Jason Butler (Kasi); three sisters, Gwen Braham of Hickory, Brenda Moore (Danny) of Cramerton, and Emily Vincent of Rock Hill, SC; and one brother, Mike Butler (Sandra); as well as two granddaughters, Mia and Alexis Roldan.
Claude enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Italy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Krispy Kreme in 2002. His passion was fishing. He never missed an opportunity to fish wherever he traveled and at home. He loved his 4-legged children, dogs and cats, as well as birds, his gardens, and flowers.
He was a faithful member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church where he loved to be around his church family and participate in the services and gatherings.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer Mountain Baptist Church, 135 Lowell Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, North Carolina, 28056.
