Clingman "Butch" Parker, age 81, passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Charles Parker and Nancy Auten Parker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Linda "Jill" Parker, his daughter Christy Youmans, his son in law Dwayne Mace, as well as his brother Van Parker.
Butch was happiest when surrounded by his loving family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He began his career as a parole officer in 1971 then worked his way up to detective with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Dept. and eventually retired with the Davidson Police Dept. as Assistant Chief. He was a 50 year amateur radio operator with the call sign WB4KJV. In his spare time he could be found spending time with his family and pets that he loved dearly, watching Turner Classic Movies, or listening to his favorite bluegrass music.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Andrea Parker Mace, and Julie Parker Canales; his grandchildren: Kayleigh Mace, Shiloh Armstrong, Adam Youmans, Andi Youmans, and Ashlee Foster; his great grandchildren: Elijah, Zoey, and Zack; his sister in law Dareeta Parker, as well as his canine companion Maggie.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jason Smith, who Butch thought of as a son, for all of his friendship and care over the years.
The family will hold a service to celebrate Butch's life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Carolina Caring Hospice.
