Curtis Lawson Summitt, Sr.

Curtis Lawson Summitt, Sr. "Coach Curt", 59, of Spring Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at his home. He was born in Gaston County to William "Bill" Lawson Summitt and Betty Wilson Summitt. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth and Wayne Wilson, Sr. and Isabelle and Mack Summitt, as well as his father-in-law, Larry Truett. Curt retired from UPS Freight after more than 30 years of service. He was one of the founders and board members of the Clover area Pop Warner. He will be remembered for making a difference in the lives of many children and his community. In addition to his parents Bill and Betty, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Wanda Truett Summitt; sons, Andrew Summitt and Curtis Summitt, Jr. and his wife, Holly; grandchildren, Tristen, Adaley, Harper, and Emery; sister, Cyndi Robinson and her husband, Tony; brothers, Gregory Summitt and his wife, Donna, and Dwayne Summitt and his wife, Chantel; as well as his mother-in-law, Linda Truett and brother-in-law, Wendell Truett. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Bessemer City Church of God, 701 Gastonia Highway, Bessemer City. A service to celebrate his life will be held immediately following at 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held Monday, December 5, 2022. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
